About

Hayward Occupational Therapy is owned by Annika Savage (née Hayward). My vision is to create a world where individuals feel empowered to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, balance, and a sense of purpose.

I help people overcome stress, burnout, and emotional overwhelm through occupational therapy. With a compassionate and practical approach, I guide clients toward greater self-awareness, wellbeing, and meaningful growth, equipping them with the skills to thrive in both their personal and professional lives.

I believe that everyone deserves a fulfilling life, and my passion is helping people develop the skills they need to thrive – at home, at work, or in their daily routines.

I am registered as an Occupational Therapist with the HPCSA, and has acquired more than twelve years’ work experience in primary health care, private practice and NPO work. About Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a holistic, client-centred health profession, promoting health and wellbeing in people of all ages through occupation.

“The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement.” (WFOT 2012)

Green

Green is the colour of growth, life and sustainability. It speaks of possibilities and potential. Green also happens to be the colour associated with Occupational Therapy internationally.

Butterfly

The butterfly has always been a symbol of hope to me. It can only live once the previous form of itself dies. This is often the case for clients: Once they realise this “new life” (with/after illness) also holds new possibilities and joy, they start embracing it rather than dwelling on the past. It might be a different way of being, but it is equally beautiful, full of potential and opportunities.

Another part of the butterfly that appeals to me, is how it emerges from the chrysalis. It takes strength and determination, but if it perseveres, it appears with colourful, strong wings. Only then can it fly.

I strive to cheer on my clients as they take on their challenges, to enable the process of gaining and strengthening their wings, and to ultimately help them fly!
